Entertaiment is amusement or a distraction, a clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, your friends fighting over the last potato chip—it’s what you do to break up the day-to-day grind of work and housework. It is what keeps us from focusing on our troubles; it makes children laugh and develop their social skills; prepares adults for child rearing or public speaking; and, in the case of sports and music, develops motor skills needed for physical activity (9). Entertainment is constantly evolving and can be adapted to any scale, from a private evening of theater to performances designed for thousands.
