Articles about Entertaiment
Any activity that provides pleasure or relaxation to an audience, whether passive (such as watching opera or a movie) or active (such as playing games). The word derives from medieval Latin intertenere, with the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere from the Indo-European root ten, which means to hold. Merriam-Webster editors note that the Latin tenere also appears in the abbreviation TEN, which stands for Transformational Entertainment News.
Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as any consumer activity that is understood objectively, communicates between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist, and occurs in a passive form.
